Ingredients
- 1 bunch chard
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 1 onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 4 tbsp olive oil
- 1.5 cups hot water
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
Method
- Wash and chop the chard; finely dice the onion and garlic.
- Heat olive oil in a wide pan and sauté the onion and garlic until translucent.
- Add the orzo and sauté for about 2 minutes until lightly browned.
- Add the chopped chard stems first, followed by the leaves.
- Pour in hot water, season with salt and black pepper, and cover the pot.
- Simmer on low heat for about 20 minutes until the orzo is tender and water is absorbed.
Adding the chard stems a bit earlier ensures they cook at the same rate as the leaves.
